Your value in Christ (2)-Is not acceptance by performance

Lord Jesus,

Author and perfecter of my faith, please help me daily to accept myself as you have received me eternally to you. Please help me do away  with this addictive pressure of approval and acceptance. Lord Help me to begin to walk in royalty into your presence daily. Would you please begin today? Amen.

When I did not perform well, I automatically assumed that God had rejected me because that was what I was accustomed to from  people. Once again the truth was distorted  through a wrong belief system. We don’t have to live under the pressure of acceptance by performance.

God does not reject us when we make mistakes but if we fear he does, the lie we have believed becomes true to us. We often believe  in  our own feelings without knowing how fickle and changeable they are.

A desire to please God

In  II Chronicles 16:9, God is searching for someone whom he can show himself strong, someone whose heart is perfect towards him, to please him,

People who have a deep desire to please God, do not perform perfectly all the time but they keep pressing forward and always have the attitude of wanting to improve. The scripture does not say he is looking for someone with a perfect performance but rather someone with a perfect heart and a heart that desires God, a heart that is having hatred over sin and evil.

A heart that believes in him and is willing to develop an ability to forgive and restore.

God knows that we cannot be perfect in our performance or else  we would not need a saviour and Jesus would not have to  rein.

Truth pleases God according to John 4:24, he is seeking worshippers who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. In 1 Sam 16:7 the Lord said to Samuel, ‘look not at his appearance or at his physical stature, for I have rejected him, for the Lord sees not as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at  the heart.’

  •  Do you spend so much of your time thinking about all your faults that you lose your hope in life?
  • Are you moping around depressed, discouraged and despondent?

If so, make a change today.
