The word of God says, “The Spirit of Truth has come to lead and guide us into all truth.”
If the word which is spoken carries the weight of the speaker, then the logo of God has a spiritual as well as an intellectual dynamic which makes that Word special. If God has told us that we should be careful in the use of our words, then it is certain that God has been careful in the use of every word which has been written in the scriptures. If words are to convey a mental picture, then we should learn how to visualise the Word of God and try to understand what He sees.
Words therefore reproduce the picture that the speaker is conveying in the mind of the hearer. Art is also a symbol in that it too tries to communicate ideas or pictures in the artist’s mind by the use of a symbol. Since our words come from within our heart, they divulge the very intent of our thinking.
The speech centre in the brain has direct influence over the entire nervous system. Solomon, thousands of years before the discovery which science has made in recent years, stated the very same fact in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” In surgery, the will of the patient to pull through his operation will have as much to do with the success of the operation as any external factor.
The will of the patient will not only give the body of the patient the ability to stay alive during the operation, but will actually aid in the healing process. If he confesses death, then death will begin to work in his system. If he confesses life, the body begins to release the natural forces of healing to make that confession true.
When we imagine life blooming once again in spite of the hardships we are right in, our words have the capacity along with positive confession and declaring who we are, the reason we are created and who we want to be. We can aim for a safe harbour.
Like the Psalmist we can also sing , “ I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.” – Psalm 118:17( NIV, Bible).
