Embracing your identity

Understanding who you are in Christ will give you a strong foundation to build who your life is built on. Knowing who you are in Jesus is the key to a successful Christian life lived ON purpose.

Your identity doesn’t depend on something you do or have done. Your true identity is who God says you are.

Once you choose to follow Jesus you become a new creation, the old YOU passes away and you become who you are in Him. Do not live by what other people say to you but find out what God says about you in His Word and agree with Him.

You need to know WHO you are in Christ so that you know WHAT to do, WHEN to do it, WHERE to go, and HOW to do it!

And if you start paying attention, you will notice that the Christian use of “identity” is almost always preceded by the verb ‘finding’. Many, if not most, baptismal testimonies I have heard in recent years involve some form of, “I used to find my identity in [x], now I find my identity in Christ.” Maybe it is academic achievement, a career, a boyfriend/girlfriend, or athletic accomplishments, but whatever they mean, is not much different than the recent hit song ‘You Say’, where she tells God, “In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity.”

The practical ways to embrace your identity in Christ and live in abundance,

We need to release shame, guilt, and failures of the past. Starting a regular Bible study and prayer time. Renew your mind with biblical truths. Practice walking in the ways of God, not of the world. Seek the Lord’s will for your life.

Looking for ‘Identity in Christ’ verses to encourage your heart and uplift your soul. There are hundreds of Bible verses on our identity in Christ that we can use when we need to be reminded of God’s love and grace in our lives. We as frail people thrive on daily affirmation of our worth and value.
