Quiet time with God

Recent studies have shown that dedicating time to silence can restore the nervous system, sustain energy levels, and sharpen the mind’s activity. One simple way to reduce stress is to set aside 15-30 minutes of your daily routine for quiet solitude. The psychological benefits of silence encompass improved creativity, focus, self-control, self-awareness, perspective, and spirituality. Silence plays a dual role in communication, impacting our relationships positively or negatively.

Among Christians, both new and seasoned, a common struggle in their spiritual journey is spending quality time with God.

Quiet time, also referred to as heart-to-heart time or one-on-one time with our Creator, is a regular, personal session of Christian spiritual practice.

This practice may involve prayer, private meditation, contemplation, worship of God, or studying the Bible. Regardless of the specific activities, the essence of quiet time lies in seeking God first and listening to Him before embarking on a busy day. The key is to ensure that you spend this time with Him with minimal distractions; perfection is not necessary.

How do you begin?

Let’s define quiet time as a daily pause, a moment to step away from the hustle and bustle of life, schoolwork, and other demands. So, how can you start your quiet time?

If this concept is new to you, it’s ideal to begin gradually. Start with short intervals, perhaps 7 to 10 minutes in your initial attempts, and then progressively increase the duration each day.

This practice will establish a spiritual discipline of regularly engaging in quiet time with God through His Word and prayer, even if it’s just for 7 minutes a day.

I can assure you that this will become one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
