Brother John Mathew A Life Dedicated to God’s Call

  John Mathew, 1953–2026

A Poem

His journey on earth has ended,

But the seeds of faith he planted

Will continue to bear fruit for generations.

In a farmhouse kissed by morning dew,

A promise was spoken, faithful and true.
Born to hearts of prayer and grace,
He was marked for God in that sacred place.

Through fevered nights and trials near,
A vow was sealed in love and fear:
“This son we give to serve the Lord,
His life, his breath, his every word.”

Through meadows green he led the cows,
But heaven whispered through the boughs.
At twelve, he felt the Spirit’s fire,
A holy stirring, a heart’s desire.

The call of God burned pure and strong,
It shaped his steps, it set his song.
From village paths to Bible halls,
He followed Christ, forsaking all.

When needs arose, God’s hand supplied,
Through unseen friends, His grace replied.
A trunk was packed, a prayer was prayed,
And every debt by heaven paid.

In fields of faith and study’s light,
He grew in wisdom, firm and bright.
Agriculture and child welfare too,
His knowledge blessed the work he’d do.

Then Mercy came, his bride, his friend,

A helpmate faithful to the end.
Together they sowed in faith’s vast field,
With love that labored and never yielded.

God blessed their home with sons so dear,
Jocy with Minu, and Koshy with Angelina near.
Through their lives his faith would flow,
A heritage of grace they’d come to know.

And joy increased as years went by,
With grandchildren like stars in the sky.
Theo, Bernie, and Stevie Bright,

Avi, Zuriel, and Liam, gifts of delight.
In their laughter his legacy grew,
Seeds of faith in hearts made new.

Their table simple, yet heaven’s feast,
Their faith increased when strength decreased.
For though their means were meek and small,
Their trust in God supplied it all.

He preached to children, hearts so tender,
Taught truth with care and quiet splendor.
His words were few, his prayers were deep,
He sowed in love what heaven would keep.

Through weary days and sleepless night,
He walked by faith, not human sight.
And all who met him came to see
The peace of Christ,his legacy.

No trumpet sound, no worldly fame,
Yet heaven surely knows his name.
A faithful servant, steadfast and tall,
John Mathew lived for the Master’s call.

 A life lived for God never fades;

The  legacy continues in every heart.
