Sanctification is something that is happening inside, in the inner man through grace. It can’t be seen outside very much but the one who is sanctified will know of it since this justification through complete and total love, peace, faith, purity is working in him by the presence of Jesus. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, endurance and long suffering; there is no law against these.
A sanctified person has the following qualities-
- He is able to overcome any evil. Justification brings in him a perfect love and hope. Sanctification gives him total peace and rest in Jesus.
- A sanctified man is not having inner struggles anymore. He recognizes that fights and struggles come only from outside and with this knowledge he keeps his mind in control pushing the tempter outside by the power of Jesus.
- Even though he found himself being neglected and not being looked for, yet he is comfortable. A sanctified person should never be expecting anything for his own fulfilment but in Christ alone all the other things never matter.
- His mind is set on things high on eternal values.
- Even falsely accused, a sanctified person is always at rest; he is not agitated but resting from all future fears. His reliance is only on Jesus.
While reading about Sanctification you may have a question: why have we to be Sanctified? The Scripture says in II Timothy 2:21 “If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purpose, made holy, useful to the master and prepared to do any good work.”
A Sanctified person is like a cleansed vessel which is kept ready to use at home. So likewise when a person who is cleansed with the Blood of Jesus hides himself within Christ protecting himself from all kinds of sin is now ready for our master Jesus to use him for noble purposes as he has been made holy and is useful to do any good work and so on.
