Codependency in a relationship (06) – Freedom in Christ & guidance from the Holy Spirit

Use these divine Keys to unlock Freedom from the codependency relationship-

  1. Codependency is a sin against the Lord and yourself also knowing  this can take you to hell.
  2. Learn to look to God for your needs.
  3. Don’t ever think to please and to make peace all the time. Whenever you need to say “No” please don’t say “Yes”.
  4. Don’t be a God in their life. Trust that God will begin the good work in the other person’s life. You must know for sure you can’t control other person’s destiny.
  5. Learn to forgive those who have done wrong.
  6. If you refrain from controlling that person you can come to freedom. Trust in God who is having total control over the other person.
  7. The Bible says in Exo: 18-26, Moses’ father-in-law  who replied, ‘what you are doing is not good, you and these people who come to you will only wear yourself out. The work is too heavy for you, you cannot handle it alone.’
  8. Learn to forgive as Christ has forgiven you as in Col 3:13. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and if one has a difference (a grievance or a complaint) against another readily pardoning each other even the Lord has freely forgiven you, so you must also forgive.

Freedom in Christ –

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. If the Son set you free you shall be free indeed.” –  Galatians: 5:1

  1. Since Christ lives in me, I am free emotionally too.
  2. Trust in truth, Christ’s power and his spirit can give me victory over codependency. In the Bible Phil 4:13 says that “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
  3. Christ’s divine character is given to me thereby; I can grow in dependency.
  4. Start a prayer walk.
  5. Memorise scriptures.
  6. Grow deeper in God.

Turn completely to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentance of heart, mind and imagination. If there is a deviation you will please the other person when your thoughts and  imagination shifts to  total dependency on  Jesus. The Bible says in 1 John 4: 5, “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world”.

There is help for recovery and change. The first step is getting guidance and support from the Holy Spirit. These symptoms are deeply ingrained habits and are difficult to identify and to be changed on your own.
