Finger prayers (06): Prioritizing and Praying Through Life’s Challenges”

In life, we face numerous challenges that can overwhelm us and make us lose focus on what’s important. However, with faith, we can tackle these challenges and come out stronger. This blog post focuses on the five fingers of faith, a prayer exercise that can help us prioritize and pray through life’s challenges.

  • The first set of fingers focuses on personal challenges and prioritizing time. The second set of fingers is all about faith, promises, and preparing for the end times.
  • In the first set, we need to prioritize our time and carve out moments to pray and focus on ourselves. Then, we can move on to praying for our family, community, nation, and the future. It’s crucial to remember that we can’t fix everything, but we can pray for those around us and trust that God is working in their lives.
  • In the second set, we can remind ourselves of God’s promises and put our faith in Him. We can pray for our family and nation and trust that God is working even when we don’t see it. We can prepare for the end times by living a life of faith and keeping our hearts open to God’s leading.

By prioritizing our time and focusing on our faith, we can overcome life’s challenges and come out stronger. The five fingers of faith prayer exercise can help us do just that. Let’s keep our hearts and minds open to God’s leading and trust that He is working in all things.

In Psalm 8, David asks a question that reminds us of the greater power behind our fingers. In Psalm 8, David marvels at the heavens and the work of God’s fingers in setting the moon and stars in place. This is a reminder of the vastness and power of our Creator, who spoke the universe into existence and holds it all together by His word.

But Psalm 8 also reminds us of the special care that God has for humanity. By using our fingers as a reminder of God’s love and grace, we can pray with intentionality and focus. Whether we are going through difficult times or simply want to express our gratitude, finger prayer can be a simple yet effective way to communicate with God.

Closing Prayer:

Dear God, we thank you for the gift of finger prayer and the opportunity to connect with you on a deeper level. Help us to use this tool to express our love, gratitude, and petitions to you. May our faith be strengthened as we continue to seek you through prayer. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Scripture:

Psalm 8:3-4 – “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” (NIV)

Matthew 6:6 – “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (NIV)
