Let’s begin with a prayer of gratitude and praise to God for the opportunity we have in our lives at this moment, wherever we may be, to reach out to future generations. This includes our children, grandchildren, believers, non-believers, neighbors, and people near and far.
As Psalms 78:4 (NIV) beautifully states, “We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.” This means that we should ensure that the next generation knows about God’s amazing works, His power, and His wonders. This knowledge should be passed down, even to children yet to be born, who will then share it with their own children. This spiritual heritage should be transmitted from age to age.
It is the will of God that, in addition to private instructions, there should be a continuous ministry upheld in all ages, until the end of the world.
Deuteronomy 6:9 adds, “Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.” This emphasizes the importance of visibly displaying God’s teachings and commands.
Psalm 22:30 reassures us, “Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.”
So, as we consider writing our own biographies and testimonies, we should remember that it is in our capacity to obey God’s commands and pass down the knowledge of His wonderful deeds, His power, and His laws to the generations that follow.
If you are still hesitant to write your story, remember that through penning your biography, you have the opportunity to fulfill God’s commandments and leave a lasting legacy.
