Journaling over the years – A journal

Journaling is simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly. And if you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal can be a great idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.

What is journaling, and is it the same as diary writing?

The main difference between a diary and a journal is its use. A diary is a book that is used to record daily experiences and events as they happen. On the other hand, a journal is a personal and intimate record of your thoughts, observations, and ideas.

Journaling is about pouring out. It’s not a mere record but a journey itself with you, your family, and with God. To me, unless you pour out, you cannot be filled. Journaling is that. You can do it anywhere, I mean, as you like.

What is the use of journaling? 24 hours can become so crowded that sometimes you can forget… When you have discipline, the next generation will know and follow. The children will come to know of a trail of history you leave behind. It could be at a place – step on a platform for them too. So journaling gives that opportunity. It is also systematic brain training – you can easily and quickly rehearse if you need to in case.

When the event is happening, you are reminded to say to yourself, “I have to journal this!” When I write and keep, I also take it to the next step of personal conviction that I will share with you now.

I do write a short prayer to the Lord in that journal, asking for God’s guidance, assistance, comfort, protection, favor, and presence, and so forth. When I do that, I believe that angels do come and visit sooner or later and present it to the throne room of our Lord. I keenly look forward to the time of God’s intervention because there is so much release if I could do that.

I too have personally and as a family experienced many answered prayers all along. I came to realize the Lord is coming through in times like that – calming me down, helping me to stay focused during those testing and trying seasons. Believe me – you grow a lot!
