Prayer Binds Us to God: That’s why we tell God what He already knows. He knows what we have need of before we ask, but we’re definitely, specifically, unqualifiedly told to pray and to ask — not to impress or inform God, but to invite God, so that we might have that fellowship with Him, so that we might grow, and we would learn to depend upon Him.
How to Prevail in Prayer?
The Bible says to pray at all times. Prayer is a very vital key to a clear mind because we induce the mind of Christ in us since the Scripture says that it is the Holy Spirit that is in us who makes intercession in us with groaning that cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26).
You must be willing to take (carve out) time.
It is very easy to get caught up in the busyness of everyday life, and therefore, we don’t feel it’s that important and necessary to pray since the so-called battles we fight are in the very real and tangible surroundings around us. But what we don’t realize is that in carving out time to spend with Him, we not only honor God in our lives so that He begins to work on our behalf but we also don’t leave any room for the enemy to get us entangled in our daily routine.
We know that the battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and the wickedness in high places. Prayer is a powerful weapon, and therefore, to be able to give up certain things in our daily routines or maybe sacrifice some sleep, we are inviting God and His infinite power to control your day and life. You learn to pray by praying.
There is no set formula or structure for prayer. Yes, it’s true we may have been guided by our Sunday school teacher or Pastors or a mentor, but nothing compares to when you take time out and wait on Him. The Holy Spirit is the best teacher and guide. The more you dare to wait on this powerful Most High God, He begins to communicate with you. The Scriptures say that the Lord looks down from heaven to see if there is any who seek after Him (1 Pet 3:12).
