The Lord’s will (5)-The ‘Conditions of Guidance’

We should know that prayer and thanksgiving are always God’s will for us. 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 18        says, “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus…”

Again, doing good deeds is always God’s will. 1 Peter 2:15 says,  “For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men”.

Just a gentle reminder! How to practise listening to God for guidance in prayer?

Whenever we come to God with our request for guidance, wait in silence for God to speak for 10-12 minutes. Jot down any Scripture, songs, impressions, or pictures God gives you. If you want, share how God spoke to you with your prayer partners and continue to follow God’s will.

  Conditions of Guidance

  1. God’s plan for the unsaved consists of one point – believe and be saved.
  2. Trust in the Lord, Psalm 37:3, Psalm 32:8. Guidance is only for the believer.
  3. Delight thyself also in the Lord, Psalm 37:4 – be eager, willing to know his will and obey.
  4. Commit thy way unto the Lord, Psalm 37:5. We must have complete, explicit faith in him.
  5. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him, Psalm 37:7. God promises to guide, but not necessarily to reveal his will the same day that you request it.
  6. Surrender to the will of God – we must be willing to obey his will, Romans 12:1, 2.
  7. Separation from the world and all known sins. Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world,” That ye may prove separation then the revealing of His will.
  8. Spiritual mindedness. Romans 12:2 “Renewing of your mind”- your mind in tuned with the Lord’s  spirit to hear his still small voice.

God’s will is always revealed to the one seeking for him. The truth is that God is sovereign and does not work according to a set pattern, for he deals with each person differently even in His methods and ways of guidance.
