Let us be on guard; we may miss the Will of God by being too casual and easygoing. Stay alert as well.
Often, guidance is a combination of several factors. You need light for one step at a time. Obey and walk in the light that God has already given you, and then He will continue to lighten your path. Always remember that God wants to give you both the master plan and the minute details of your life. Wait patiently on Him, and He will reveal them day by day.
The life of Jesus Christ on earth is a perfect illustration of absolute conformity to the will of God, as in Hebrews 10:7, which says, “Then said I, lo, I come … to do thy will, O God.” Jesus Christ came to the earth to fulfill God’s will. Jesus actually finished the work that the Father gave Him to do on earth.
Jesus says in John 17:4, “I have finished the work which thou gave me to do.”
Just as Jesus was assigned a specific task to perform on earth, each Christian is similarly assigned a special task. God’s purpose and will are to have a perfect kingdom with an awe-inspiring world in which He can dwell and delight among His created family.
Seeking God’s guidance is a priority for many believers. We want to know what God has planned for our lives. Are we making the right decision? Are we in His will? For some people, knowing that ‘God is guiding their lives’ makes them relax and enjoy the ride with Christ. But others fear making the wrong choice and find themselves paralyzed as they continue to wait for signs from above. At this point, we have to directly face the consequences and also address these fears with God’s Will. With solid biblical footing, we can still get back on track and shed light through scripture while seeking God’s guidance in response to the many misunderstandings ‘well-meaning Christians’ can have.
Those of us seeking God’s will in major life decisions, as well as anyone interested in understanding how God guides us, will welcome this practical discipline that we will embark on in the following blogs.
