Considering the difference between my will and God’s will?
God’s will is defined as the actions taken or words spoken based on love, selflessness, honesty and purity.
Self-will is the action taken with the ego and the determination to have one’s way, to get what is most desired and at times no matter what the cost.
A display of fine ‘will of God’-
In order to fulfil the will of the Father , Jesus faced rejection from his community. Jesus said he was “without honour” in his hometown. Scripture even says that Jesus “did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief”,yet did the Father’s will.
One of the classic examples of loneliness in the Bible was the experience of the prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 19. He had just gained a great victory for God in a fearless struggle over the predominant forces representing Baal worship in the land of Israel.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers, the Israelites, as was Jesus (see Genesis 37:4; John 1:11; Isaiah 53:3). Joseph was sold by his brothers into the hands of the Gentiles, just as Jesus was (see Genesis 37:25–27; Matthew 20:19).
Martha – Worried about everything. Zacchaeus – Was small and money hungry. The Disciples – Fell asleep while praying. Paul – A Pharisee who persecuted Christians before becoming one.
One who has renounced his own will and submits to the will of God for his life in all that he does is a true believer in Christ. Every Christian faces the problem of how to ascertain the Will of God. God’s ultimate will is the advancement of his kingdom in Daniel 2:44, his glorification as in 1 Cor 10:31, and the salvation and sanctification of his children through his son, Jesus Christ as in 2 Peter 3:9.
Stop thinking of God’s Will for your life as a separate plan from his will for his kingdom. They are the same.
