How do you learn to walk in God’s will?
It’s true – God’s will for your life includes today! He cares how you spend your time and your energy. When we intentionally and willingly put Him first, His power and joy come into our lives. You can choose to obey or disobey Him, but ultimately, God is still in control.
You are not meant to make all decisions by yourself. It is wise to ask someone who is more experienced than you if what you are thinking about sounds like God’s will. If you are really unsure about whether or not something is God’s will, seek counsel from mature spiritual people who walk with the Lord.
As a new believer in Christ, I, out of good intentions, thought of getting the will of God right away. With this mindset, I remember asking the people and servants of God for the will of God, specifically for the direction of my life. In my desperation, I wrote several ‘inland’ letters to inquire about the will of God in my life. But sadly, I received no answers. To my surprise, as I progressed in life, I learned about the will of God, which you will discover as you continue reading this blog. I have realized it is not a manual; if any of you are thinking like that.
When we choose to pray continually, we are realigning our thinking and our priorities with the will of God for our day. Our disobedience cannot derail God’s ultimate plan.
Bible characters did the will of God amidst their trials. Here are a few famous heroes in the Bible who did the will of God: Moses, Abraham, Noah, Jacob, Elijah, Joseph, Mary, Daniel.
God reveals His will to us through His word. The will of God is revealed in the word of God. Over and over again, we find specific statements that tell us what God’s gracious will is.
Simply talk to God and ask Him to show you His will, and read your Bible. These things must be connected to making a wise and godly decision. God will never ask you to make a decision that goes against His Word.
