Our battle is such that we fight against imaginations, attitudes, emotions, and feelings that can leave us feeling mentally disabled. Each year, month, hour, minute, and second, we are engaged in a battle for or against God.
“Coming to think of it, spiritual battle is the cosmic war of good versus evil. These battles are fought daily between God and Satan, between the Church and the world system ruled by our spiritual enemy, and within every child of God, between the Holy Spirit and the lusts of the carnal flesh.”
An army consists of a large group of people, especially one that is organized to achieve a specific objective. War is a conflict or fight with somebody or something to completely destroy or eliminate something harmful, usually between two opposing armies.
So, whether we want to accept it or not, we are in the midst of a battle. All around us, a battle is taking place in the spiritual realms, both inward and outward. Through the Holy Spirit, we can become aware of this battle and learn how to live in victory rather than defeat.
Understanding the dynamics of this battle and how we are to engage the enemy is vital if we want to achieve victory. For example, imagine being in a war without having knowledge or intelligence about how to engage and defeat the enemy. You would be at the mercy of chance, hoping that your army has enough force to repulse the enemy.
On the other hand, if your army had intelligence about the enemy, you could plan for their attack and formulate a strategy for your response.
