“I remember those walks with our teenage children walking around this long forgotten and underprivileged village setup several times pushing away the ‘then’ prevailing darkness to bring in the Light, Gospel and education amidst various resistance. But, Hell’s gates couldn’t prevail!
Our feet could be a testimony of standing tall at what we see today!”
What is ‘Walking your way in prayer on Location’:
This kind of Prayer is putting legs to your prayers. Instead of sitting in your house praying, it puts you into the community where the people are living. This allows you to see the area that you’re praying for and be more intentional in your prayers.
You may see kids’ toys in a yard and know to pray for the kids at that house, you may see recreational items in a yard and pray specifically for safety and protection. Every house you walk by you can pray that God will bring them closer to Him and into a relationship with Him.
Walking your way in prayer on location, makes us more aware of what is around us and helps us see prayer needs of the area on a more personal level. As we walk through the neighbourhoods we are trying to reach, we can begin to feel more connected to the area and learn to pray more specifically.
In order to adhere to Our Lord’s Mission Fulfilling “Seek and Save”
Walking your way in prayer on Location certainly isn’t the only way God is calling us to pray, but it may be the best way to be sure we have prayed for every person of our land. No list includes all of the homeless, or every child, or the transient, or fresh immigrants, or many others. If we are serious about praying for every person, it will require systematic, sustained prayer walking as an important part of our praying.
I’m convinced that Christ is fulfilling His “seek and save” mission as in Luke 19:10.
Our part of that mission involves seeking people. He will do the saving. Prayer walking may be the simplest way for us to seek people by which God is honoured and glorified..
God is stirring us to take our prayers beyond the walls of our church buildings. As we put our feet to our prayers, we are beginning to pray with huge kingdom-sized hope for the entire city.
