When a heart is broken, often people are not very comfortable to be around that person.But our loving Lord Loves the broken hearted. Psalm 34:18, says, “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who are crushed in Spirit.”
Surrender is hard work. In our case, it requires intense warfare against our self-centred nature.Jesus surrendered himself to God’s will. He prayed, “God, if it is in your best interest to remove this suffering, please do so. But if it fulfils your purpose, that’s what I want too.” A surrendered heart in life cries out to the ‘Maker’ saying, genuinely- “Father, if this problem, pain, sickness, or circumstance is needed to fulfil your purpose and glory in my life or in another’s life, please don’t take it away!”
A meticulous knowledge of this level of maturity doesn’t come easy though. By looking In Jesus’ case, he agonised so much of pain over God’s plan that he sweated drops of blood.
When I write these lines I surely recollect our journey as a family to this remote village adhering to the divine call with our teenage kids over two decades ago..as the saying proves-
‘’The will of God will never take you,Where the grace of God cannot keep you.”
Valuable lessons taught or learnt looks like this-
- Following God’s leading without knowing where he is sending you;
- Waiting for God’s timing without knowing when it will come;
- Expecting a miracle without knowing how God will provide;
- Trusting God’s purposes without understanding the circumstances.
Knowing fully well, as humans as limited as we are, we cannot fix a broken heart but only our maker and creator God alone can fix a broken heart. This great God is specialised in working with the broken, crushed and humbled heart, he alone can revive our heart and the Spirit to mend and revamp it.
Even at the face of a sinful condition, Psalm 51:17, invites us to His presence “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: “a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.”
