Prayer during Quiet Time

The most profound endeavor is engaging in a conversation with God. But how do we initiate a dialogue with someone who is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent? Sometimes, amidst our hectic schedules, we approach it almost as an afterthought, often after a day’s work. So, how do we attune ourselves to this sacred interaction? The key lies in practice, and an age-old discipline can guide us – A-C-T-S. Let’s delve into it:

Adoration – Our ultimate purpose is to worship Him. In the heavenly throne room, ceaseless praise and worship resound. Psalm 95:6 urges us, “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker” (NIV).

Confession – Before approaching a Holy God, we must confess, repent, and turn from our known sins. Psalm 32:5 illustrates this, stating, “Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin” (NIV).

Thanksgiving – Gratitude to God is paramount, as He lavishes us with countless blessings. Therefore, we should express thankfulness for everything, be it joys or sorrows (Philippians 4:6).

Supplication – This involves intercession, petitions, requests, and desires, as mentioned in 1 Timothy 2:1.

Engaging in regular prayer demands time and discipline. The true test lies in day-to-day perseverance. Maintaining a list of prayer points allows us to witness answered prayers, serving as a source of encouragement. Psalm 50:15 assures us, “and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (NIV). We can honor Him through praise.
