Sculpting Time

Every person has 24 hours in a day. However, when we deduct time for necessities such as sleep, eating, personal grooming, commuting, work, holidays, health check-ups, emergencies, hobbies, and extra commitments, how much of this day, calculated for 30 days in a year, is left to spend as we wish?

Here, we have devised a practical calculation for an average person’s life up to the age of 60. I don’t know your current age, but you can start applying this concept today. As someone wisely said, “what you have done for Christ alone stands the test of time.” For example, let’s assume you’re currently 30 years old. If we calculate this until the age of 60, with eternity in mind, you’ll likely agree that our time must be invested wisely.

In a day,

30 minutes = time spent with God. So, in a month, it accumulates to

30 minutes X 30 days X 12 months = 10,800 minutes alone in a year.

Now, considering 60 years, the total is 10,800 X 60 years = 648,000 minutes.

This amounts to only 450 days. So, in the next 30 years, we spend time with God equivalent to just 1 year and 2 months (or 450 days)!!

In the grand scheme of things, this may seem quite meager. Moreover, if you face illness or unforeseen challenges, this time dwindles further. Do you now have a new perspective on life? Even today presents an opportune moment to become more responsible for what has been entrusted to us. In essence, it’s not merely the number of years we live, but how we live them in view of eternity that truly matters.

But there’s hope. Much like a sculptor chisels away at a block of stone to reveal the beauty within, we too can begin to see our well-invested time bringing beauty into our lives.
